Cuban authorities turn away aid from Dubai

Unfortunately, the hospital was unable to secure a way to import the needed equipment. Therefore, this project has been aborted due to Cuban bureaucracy. All funds will be diverted to the Haiti Hospital Appeal, the other charity nominated to benefit from funds raised by the Revolutionary Ride, Cuba 2010.

William Soler Paedatric Hospital has submitted an application for $25,000 worth of medical equipment for monitoring and treatment of children with severe heart issues.

The hospital is state funded and provides all patient care for free.

The hospital is delighted with our donation and is currently working with hospital administrators to provide the necessary paperwork to enable an initial transfer of funds by G4G.

UPDATE – October 2011

William Soler Children’s Hospital is facing immense bureaucracy to import the requested operating equipment. The Hospital needs a commercial representative with a license to import; neither G4G nor our ground handler has access to such. The hospital is now looking at alternative locally sourced capital projects which G4G will be able to fund.

LATEST UPDATE – April 2012

Gulf for Good guidelines provide that all projects must commence within 13 months of the challenge. Unfortunately, the hospital was unable to secure a way to import the needed equipment. Therefore, this project has been aborted due to Cuban bureaucracy.
