To prepare for Mars, NASA travels to Iceland | ShareAmerica NASA is gearing up for the next steps of space exploration. First order of business: new suits for future lunar missions and spacewalks.
On October 15, NASA revealed the latest Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit (xEMU) suits as a part of its goal to send astronauts to the moon within the next decade. The suits are designed with greater flexibility around the waist and joints, which allows for increased mobility across the surface of the moon.
Designed to fit both men and women, the xEMU can withstand temperature fluctuations between minus 150 degrees Celsius and 120 degrees Celsius.
That’s one small step toward a future of galactic expeditions.
